Get Tickets to NYC TV Show Tapings

NYC TV show tapings

Have you ever wanted to be part of the studio audience for a tv show taping in NYC? Some tickets are easier to get than others, but the good news is that they're free! You can get tickets to popular television shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Rachel Ray, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The View, Late Night with Seth Meyers, SNL, and more. Group tickets are available for most daytime shows.

I've been to at least a dozen tv show tapings in NYC and here are a few tips to make your studio audience experience more enjoyable:
  • Bring a sweater. Studios are often very cold, despite the outside temperature, so bring an extra layer.
  • Eat before you arrive for the taping. There is usually a 30-60 minute wait from when you arrive at the line until you sit down in the audience, and you WILL get hungry. Some of the morning talk/cooking shows occasionally have light snacks, but it's best to be prepared with a full belly. You don't want your stomach grumbling on television!
  • Have a flexible schedule on the day of the taping. Television show tapings often go much longer than you'd expect. A one hour talk show might require four to five hours of your time -- standing on line to get into the studio, waiting to get seated, watching the show with various segments and set changes, and the slow and safe exiting. Rachael Ray was the longest taping I've experienced.
  • Visit the bathroom before getting seated. Make one extra trip to the loo before taking your seat as no one is allowed to leave her/his seat during a taping.
If you don't want to sit around in a studio but you love television, you can enjoy a guided tour of NYC TV and movie sites.

Stephen Colbert began hosting "The Late Show" at the legendary Ed Sullivan Theater on September 8, 2015.
  • How to Get Tickets to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: Reserve your tickets in advance to be part of the audience for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
  • Additional Information: Everyone attending must have a government issued photo I.D., and must be at least 18 years of age.
Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. All shows are overbooked to ensure capacity, and no one is guaranteed entry. If there is more than one ticket in the reservation, the person whose name the reservation is under must be present for his/her guests to join the line. If there is only one ticket, then only the person whose name appears on the ticket may attend.
Backpacks, luggage and shopping bags will not be permitted. Smaller bags (purses) will be allowed but may be searched by our security team before entering the theater. The use of electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, recording devices, etc.) is strictly prohibited while in the theater and may be confiscated if in use, or you and your guests may be asked to leave the theater.
Tickets are non-transferable. Tickets are NOT for sale or resale. Individuals may only attend once every six months. Once you enter the theater, you are required to stay for the duration of the taping. You will be required to pass through a security check, including a metal detector, before being permitted into the theater. Food or drinks are not allowed in the theater. Show dress code is "Your Mom might see you on TV" casual. Don't embarrass her.
If you have any questions, need to cancel your reservation, please contact us at thelateshow-audience@CBS.com.
  • Information for Guests with Disabilities: The Late Show is committed to making tapings accessible to guests with disabilities. Accessible seating (including companion seating) and other accommodations are provided at all tapings. The availability of accessible seating cannot be assured if the number of audience members requiring accessible seating at a taping exceeds the allotted number of accessible seats. If you or anyone in your party requires an accommodation to attend the show because of a disability, please contact us prior to the taping date by e-mail or phone (thelateshow-audience@cbs.com or 212-975-8800) with the accommodation request, and a representative from the The Late Show will get back to you accordingly.
  • Taping Schedule: Typically tapes daily, Monday-Friday at 5pm. We recommend you get in line no later than 15 minutes prior to 3:15pm. Your guests may meet you on line until 3:15pm. Past 3:15pm, no one will be allowed to join the line.
