Hotels
What does “Run of the House room” mean?
Run of the House room means that the hotel will provide a room in any of their particular room-type categories, not in any one specific category. The room will include, at the very least, standard room features.
Can I request a certain type of room?
The low rates that you receive on NYC TripQuote are based upon the particular room category that is offered. You may request bedding configuration, smoking choice, etc., but it is the responsibility of the hotel to fulfill your request at time of check-in.
If you need to reserve a specific room type, such as a suite, call a Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP for the price.
How can I book two or more rooms?
NYC TripQuote can book up to 4 rooms at a time. If you need more than 4 rooms you should call a Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP.
Can you get me a hotel that accommodates my entire family in one room?
Well, it depends on how many are in your family. Most hotel rooms in New York City will only accommodate a maximum of 4 people, regardless of their age. Because of strict fire laws in the City, hotels will not waver from that rule.
NYCVP has a limited number of suite accommodations that may accommodate more than 4; however these suites generally have a king-size bed and a queen-size sleeper bed, or two double-beds and a sleeper sofa. We would request a different bedding arrangement for you if necessary.
Is this hotel in a safe area?
All of our hotels are located in areas that are frequented primarily by tourists, and all of our hotels must meet certain standards to assure guest safety. Additionally New York ranks the safest of the 25 largest cities in the United States according to recent FBI statistics. Of course, you should practice basic safety precautions as you would visiting any other destination.
Do you offer discounts (Military, Senior, etc.)?
All NYCVP prices are already discounted.
What if I would like to book a hotel that I don't see on NYC TripQuote?
Call a Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP. We still may be able to help you and offer all the features and services of an NYCVP vacation.

Price
What does the price include?
The price that you see includes the hotel accommodations that you've selected, along with any other travel components that you've chosen, and all taxes. The price is the total for all the travelers. It is NOT a per-person rate. The price also includes all the features of an NYCVP vacation: free admission to some of the top sites in New York, shopping discounts, NYCVP exclusive "Insider Tips," 24-hour Emergency Travel Assistance and a discount on your next NYCVP vacation.
Is there a service charge, or any other fee that I have to pay to use your services?
Any and all fees are already included in the price. These fees may include shipping/handling fees, brokers' ticket fees, state and local taxes, and tour company markups.
Can prices change?
Although not likely, prices are subject to change until NYCVP processes your appropriate payment. In the extremely rare case where prices do increase after you furnish us with payment, but before the payment is processed, we will notify you and give you options. If certain elements beyond the control of NYCVP occur, such as an increase in federal, state and/or local taxes, we are forced to pass those increases on to you.
When is the least expensive time to visit New York City?
The least expensive months are usually winter and summer - January, February, July and August. The last 2 weeks of December, before New Year's Eve, is also usually lower priced. The most expensive time to visit the City is usually during the first two weeks of December, when the City is crowded with shoppers. Of course special events, city-wide conventions, United Nations sessions and the like affect rates too.

Theater and Events
What kind of seats do I get?
We generally provide you with Orchestra or Front Mezzanine seats for Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. We maintain a large inventory of tickets to popular shows, and we also check with the box office and several reputable ticket brokers to find what we feel are the best seats for you. 95% of the time the seats are in the top-price Orchestra or Front Mezzanine sections. In the rare instances where we are unable to locate top-price seats we will notify you and reduce the price accordingly. For extremely hard-to-get shows, or premium seats in certain shows, call us for rates.
What should I wear?
You will find all sorts of fashion at a Broadway performance, from elegant to super-casual. Generally speaking, wear what you would for a similar event in your home town. If you like to ‘dress to impress,’ by all means do so!
What show do you suggest?
Every one. Broadway is the pinnacle of live entertainment so every show is spectacular in its own right. Each of us at NYCVP has his or her own personal favorites so feel free to call us. We’d be happy to make suggestions based on your likes and dislikes.
How do we get to the shows? Is there transportation provided or do we just take a taxi cab?
Most of the time no transportation is necessary since your hotel will be a 5-15 minute walk from the theater. However if you’d like us to provide private car or luxury limousine transportation we’d be happy to do so. Just call one of our Vacation Planners at 877-NYC-TRiP to add it to your vacation plan.
Can I purchase tickets without a hotel stay?
NYC TripQuote is designed to assist you in planning your entire vacation. You must include a hotel stay in order to purchase theater tickets or you may visit
http://nycsightseeing.nyctrip.com/
to purchase sightseeing, museum admissions, dining plans and tickets to Broadway shows.
Can I take my child under 2?
Most theaters have a minimum age of 4 years. Some theaters do allow children younger than 4. However all theaters have policies regarding disruptive behavior and violators may be asked to “settle down” in the lobby. Anyone, including a young child, is required to have a ticket. Most theaters do have a limited number of booster seats available; we suggest getting to the theater early if a booster seat is needed.

Sightseeing
Do you offer private guided tours?
We do offer private tours to groups and individuals. If you’d like more information you may visit our
website
or contact a Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP.
Do I need reservations?
Some sightseeing tours do require reservations. If so, we will ask your preferences when you turn your NYC TripQuote into a booking.
Dining
Can I pick anything off the menu?
Our restaurants provide a special menu for you. Lunches and dinners normally include a choice of appetizers or salad, and a choice of entrees and desserts. Since tax and gratuity is included you don’t have to worry about tipping!
Do I have to tip?
If you order anything beyond what is included on your menu, such as alcoholic beverages or a bottle of wine, you should certainly reward the server. However we take care of the gratuity (and tax too) on the meal that you purchased from NYCVP.
What should I wear?
New York is kind of an “anything goes” city, but you’ll probably want to avoid jeans, cutoffs, tank tops and the like at most restaurants. You also might want to dress up for dinner at The View. World Yacht and Spirit City Dinner Cruises are somewhat dressier – t-shirts, cut offs and flip flops are frowned upon.
Are reservations required for dinner? If so, how do I tell you when I’d like them?
Some restaurants do require reservations. If so, we will ask your preferences when you turn your NYC TripQuote into a booking.
Transportation
How do I know my air itinerary?
When you turn your NYC TripQuote into a booking we’ll ask you for your preferred flight times. Then our Vacation Planners will book your flight and send the complete itinerary to you.
If I have my own flights booked, can you still provide transportation from the airport to the hotel?
Absolutely. Just select “Roundtrip Airport/Hotel Transportation” in the Transportation section of NYC TripQuote. Since SuperShuttle vans run on a schedule throughout the day it is not necessary to provide us with your flight itinerary.
If you would like to arrive at your hotel "in style" we can arrange private vehicle transfers for you. Call us after your booking is complete and we'll give you prices and make all the arrangements.
Which airport is most convenient to fly into?
LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty (EWR) and Kennedy (JFK) are all relatively convenient. LaGuardia might have a slight advantage in terms of proximity to Manhattan. Islip (ISP), White Plains (HPN) and other area airports are not nearly as convenient.
How much does a taxi cost?
Taxis in New York are very reasonably priced and an economical mode of transportation. The base fare is $2.50 plus .40 for each 1/5 mile. You can usually travel from midtown all the way down to Chinatown or Little Italy for about $12. Taxi drivers accept cash and credit cards.
How much should I tip the taxi driver?
Normally 15-20% of the fare.
Where can I park if I drive into the city?
There are parking garages everywhere in Manhattan, including within a block or so of every hotel. NYCVP recommends leaving your car in a garage for the duration of your stay.
How much does parking cost?
Parking can cost up to $60 per day.
Where can I purchase a Metro Card?
MetroCards have replaced tokens as entry to New York City subways and buses. You may purchase MetroCards at any subway entrance.
Payment
When is payment due?
Payment in full is due at time of booking. If your travel date is at least 45 days from the time of booking and you prefer to pay in installments (additional charge applies) we may accept a deposit* in lieu of full payment. No travel arrangements will be made on your behalf until we receive the appropriate deposit or full payment.
We accept Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Make checks payable to your travel agent. Under certain circumstances you will also be asked to sign and return a Tour Participation Agreement to us.
*--Minimum deposit amount is $200 per person plus the cost of non-refundable or specialty items such as airfare, theater, sports and event tickets or special functions. In some cases hotel rates are non-refundable. NYC TripQuote or an NYCVP Personal Vacation Planner will advise you of the minimum deposit requirements if you choose this option.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept Discover, MasterCard, Visa and American Express credit cards. If you’d prefer to send us a check please contact an NYCVP Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP for details.
Can I make payments periodically?
If your travel date is at least 45 days from the time of booking and you prefer to pay in installments (additional charge applies) we may accept a deposit in lieu of full payment.
Is the price in American dollars?
The price you receive on NYC TripQuote is in American dollars (USD). Your credit card will be charged in USD and converted to your local currency by your credit card company.
How do I redeem my NYCVP Gift Certificate?
When you complete your NYC TripQuote, simply note the Quote ID# that you receive. Call 877-NYC-TRiP and a Vacation Planner will convert your Quote ID# into a booking and apply the Gift Certificate value to your reservation.

Miscellaneous
How do I know your company is legitimate?
Good question! We have been in the business of selling New York City since 1997 and our parent company has been in operation since 1983. We are members of NYC & Company, the American Society of Travel Agents, the Better Business Bureau (A+ rating), National Tour Association, Greater New York City Chamber of Commerce and the New York State Tourism Industry Association. Feel free to call any of those well-respected organizations to check on our credentials.
Can I look at a brochure?
Absolutely. Best bet is to view or print a brochure
right from our website
. If you’d prefer you can also order one to be mailed to you.
Do you provide day trips by motor coach?
NYCVP is an inclusive vacation planning company. We do require that you book hotel accommodations in conjunction with your visit.
Do you offer any other destinations besides NYC?
NYCVP is devoted exclusively to selling vacations to New York City. We do not offer any other destinations.
Will I receive documents? If so, when?
Yes, you will receive a full set of travel documents including complete instructions so that you enjoy your vacation without hassle. Documents are normally sent to you, usually via an expedited delivery service, approximately 2-4 weeks prior to your departure. In rare instances the documents might be sent directly to your hotel, in which case you should ask when you check into your hotel. If we do send your documents to the hotel we will notify you in advance and give you a phone number to call 24/7.

Holidays and Events
Can we get a room so we can see the Macy’s parade from our window?
NYCVP reserves a very limited number of “parade view” rooms. These rooms may be available for purchase through NYC TripQuote. You should call a Vacation Planner at 877-NYC-TRiP for more information on “parade view” rooms. We also offer Insider's View parade events that include buffets and indoor or private outdoor viewing.
When is the lighting of the Christmas tree?
The famous
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
is usually lit the Tuesday or Wednesday following Thanksgiving.

Is New York City too crowded to visit on holidays?
Certain holidays are more crowded than others, but New York City is a fun place regardless of the crowds. It might just take a bit of advance planning to ensure a great vacation -- another reason why it pays to use the services of NYCVP. We can make dining reservations for you, secure tickets to otherwise sold-out shows, and tell you the ins-and-outs of avoiding hassles.
